Fava Tonka

This is without doubt one of the best vegetarian restaurants in the country. Nuno Castro, the chef running this space by Grupo do Avesso — which also owns restaurants like Terminal 4450, Esquina do Avesso and Sushiaria, all in Leça da Palmeira —, creates fun and bold cuisine, using mainly plant- based ingredients.

This feat has earned him five stars, the highest score given by the Time Out food critics. Dishes praised include the onion, truffle and São Jorge cheese soup, and desserts made with crème brûlée, honey biscuit, lavender ice cream, and honey and pollen caramel.
