Making music for half a century

After 50 years of navigating winds and tides, Batô, beside Leça Castle, is one of the oldest nightclubs in the country and the oldest in Porto. Considered by many as a legendary nightlife spot, the space features an unusual décor, which makes it even more special.

Influenced by the sea close by, a nautical theme prevails, with hatches, a helm and an iron anchor said to have belonged to an old ship that sank in the mouth of the Douro River.

Despite all its ups and downs, Batô, which opened on 30 November 1971 and has witnessed dictatorships and pandemics, has always stayed afloat, with its head held high, passing on the best rock that life has given us.
