Praia de Leça da Palmeira

Offering approximately three kilometres of beaches, Leça da Palmeira is very popular among beach-lovers when the sun heats up.

Praia de Leça beach is probably the best known. Featuring a long stretch of sand, good support facilities and a strong swell, this beach is perfect for surfing, bodyboarding and kitesurfing. If you prefer calmer waters, the famous Piscina das Marés (Ocean Pool), further north, is a good choice. Built in the 1960s and designed by Siza Vieira, it was classified as a National Monument in 2011 and lies just beyond the small Praia da Meia Laranja beach. This area also offers many entertainment options, with plenty of bars and restaurants to provide the perfect end to a day at the beach.
