Swimming & splashing in the municipal pools

The Piscina das Marés (Ocean Pool) is one of the greatest attractions in Leça da Palmeira, especially in the summer season (from 15 June to 15 September), when it is fully operational and open to the public.

This saltwater pool was built in the 1960s on the rocks and designed by Álvaro Siza Vieira. It is a landmark of 20th century architecture and was classified as a National Monument in 2011.

Also signed by the same Matosinhos architect is the Quinta da Conceição swimming pool. Situated in the municipal park, the pool was inaugurated in 1965 and is also only open in the summer months.
